What you Need to Do:
Provisional Application - Before starting training on a PCV you must first apply for the Category D provisional licence and have your medical records prepared.
There is no longer a fee for your provisional licence. (The minimum age for training is normally 21, or 18 for a restricted
license). Our administrative staff can assist in the completion of application forms as well as arranging medical appointments.
Theory Test - The theory test requires you to have specific knowledge regarding Category D driving, as well as questions that apply to all road users. More detailed information can be found at www.highwaycode.gov.uk
Driver CPC Test - This is a computer based case study test, consisting of questions focussed on real life situations a professional driver may face at work. This can be taken before or after passing the Category D test.
What you Need to Know:
Step 1
Assessment Drive - This will take place with one of our instructors and will last for an hour. Completion of this assessment will enable us to determine how much tuition is required to take you to test standard. (This can be taken prior
to passing the PCV Theory Test, as long as Category D Provisional has been obtained).
Step 2
Practical Training - Our courses are tailored to suit the individual e.g. intensive or hourly lessons. Training is always carried out on a one-to-one basis, in our modern fleet of vehicles. During the training we will familiarise you with all of the DVSA test routes.
Step 3
PCV Driving Test - The test is one hour in duration, and is booked by us through our block booking system with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency.
